Subject: Reminders

Kia Ora Koutou

A huge thank you to all of you for sticking it out in the rain last night! We know the weather wasn’t ideal, but the majority of teams were happy to play on, so we made the call to keep the games going — and we really appreciate your resilience and positive attitude.

We also understand that it got quite dark during the second game. With the heavy cloud cover, it got darker earlier than usual — definitely not the norm. Once the sun and summer decide to show up again, we’ll be back to playing in daylight!

A few important reminders:

Updated Rules:

These were sent to all team contacts last week. From some of the questions and comments last night, it’s clear that not everyone has had a chance to read them. Please make sure you familiarise yourself with these — they contain important info that all teams need to know.

One key rule to note:

As your team participates in an outdoor competition, you acknowledge that weather conditions may not be favourable; however, the competition will proceed as planned unless officially cancelled. If games are cancelled BEFORE 3pm-a email will go to all team contacts and a post on FB will be made

In the event of cancellation:

  • Before 3:00pm: An email will be sent to team contacts and a post will go up on our Facebook page.
  • After 3:00pm:  a Facebook post will be made — no emails — as I will be down at the courts running our primary school programme and won’t have computer access. Please make sure you’re checking Facebook for any last-minute updates.

Nails & Jewellery:

Just a reminder — no jewellery of any kind is to be worn during games. This includes earrings, necklaces, rings, nose rings, etc. Taping jewellery is also not allowed. If a player is wearing jewellery, they’ll be asked to leave the court and remove it before returning to the game.

Playing Up / Across Grades:

There were a few questions about this last night, so we’ve checked in with the team to clarify:

  • Playing up or across grades is NOT permitted.
  • This also means no last-minute fill-ins or call-in players.

As mentioned in last week’s email:

Any additions to your team must be submitted by 2:30pm on game day to be eligible to play that evening.Emails received after this time will not be accepted for that night’s game.

Thanks again for your continued support and for helping us keep things running smoothly. If you have any questions or need help with anything, feel free to reach out.

Ngā Mihi,

Donna Simpson
